A dear old friend of mine introduced me at a production meeting as "That Famous Polish Lighting Designer" and we all chuckled. During the production the crew gave me a pen/desk set with the engraving TFPLD. As the internet came into popular culture i needed an email addy. I tried 4 different names and on my last chance i looked at my pen/desk set and said of course "TFPLD"

3 plays

"Mother Teresa is Dead" 2007
"Private Lives" 2007

"Mother Teresa is Dead" 2007
"The Vagina Monologues 2008

"Without You" with Anthony Rapp 2008

I had just returned from an international engagement and unfortunately was going through a lot of personal problems.  This project had very little budget other than what was in inventory.  It is based off Anthony's memoir.  The book is a very good read so check it out.  The production was mounted kinda quickly.  I was happy with my results on limited inventory/technology.  I was bummed to learn that there would be another production without me.

PNME, City Theatre, and "Time after Time" a new musical at the Conservatory

PNME concert 2010
"Time after Time" 2010
"Time after Time" 2010
"The 13th of Paris" 2008

"Speak American" a new play by Eric Simonson 2009

"Mojo" at The Rep 2009

This little british play is definitely "black comedy".  I personally wanted a little more darkness but the director wanted a little more intensity.  The play can be quite challenging as an audience member.  There are basically 2 locations for the play and as a whole i felt Michael's set was successful in that transition.

"Mary's Wedding" 2009

Such a beautiful little play.  The set was quite large and at times a little too epic in size for my tastes.  I had worked with the director 2 times previously and we had a great time working on it.  I really pushed the romantic moments to tug on the heart strings.  In the straight moments i pulled way back to accentuate the differences.  If you have a chance to see a production run..don't walk.

"A Moon to Dance by" with Jane Alexander at The Rep 2009

This was a brand new play that we produced for THE REP.  I had previously worked with Bob Cuccioli so it was good to work with him again.  As a kid growing up I knew who Jane Alexander was.  I was very excited to be a part of this.  The first 3 pictures are from the original production.  The last was from the George Street Playhouse in NJ.  We did it there approx. 9 months after the first production.  There were changes in some ways from the first time and we did not have the same success.  I still think it is a very good play.

"The Seafarer" 2009

"King Lear" 2008

This was produced for PIttsburgh Irish and Classical.  The director, Jim Christy, was heavily influenced from a much earlier Peter Brooks production.  We even had 2 "follow spots" on the sides for some bretchian moments.  It was critically praised and i was very happy with my work.  Yes the deck is real dirt.  Yes we made it rain on stage for the storm.

5 different plays

"Hedda Gabler" 2007"Fiction" 2005
"Topdog Underdog" 2004
"The Muckle Man" 2007
"What the Butler Saw" 2009

"Rocky Horror" at the Conservatory 2009

Who doesn't know "Rocky Horror"?  We had so much fun on this show and even added some great video to the production.  The first picture is when Columbia sings science fiction double feature at the top of the musical.  Our video artist made her own horror movies out of hundreds of clips from horror movies.  I had some great technology to play with and got some really fun results.  This was another Scott Wise direction.

"Peer Gynt" a new musical adaptation for The Rep 2005

"Red" a new musical that was awarded a Richard Rogers award 2003

This was a world premiere of a new musical written by a student.  It focuses on the lives/trials of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg.  It is narrated by Lenny Bruce.  Pretty smart!  I wish i had more pictures to post from this production.  Unfortunately the writers no longer work together and even though it was honored with a Richard Rogers award that director wrecked the piece.  So Sad.
