A dear old friend of mine introduced me at a production meeting as "That Famous Polish Lighting Designer" and we all chuckled. During the production the crew gave me a pen/desk set with the engraving TFPLD. As the internet came into popular culture i needed an email addy. I tried 4 different names and on my last chance i looked at my pen/desk set and said of course "TFPLD"

"The 39 Steps" for City Theatre 2010

This production was opening the 2010/11 season for City Theatre. I had worked with Artistic Director, Tracy Brigden, on many occasions. We have a bit of an unspoken language after all these years. Fortunately with all the scenes and transitions in this production the tech process was quite easy in comparison. The play is lots of fun and was a blast to work on. This first picture was a new interpretation on the "forth bridge" and the production team was quite excited with the final results.

"Marcus: or the Secret of Sweet" for City Theatre 2011

The play is told through the eyes of Marcus. It is his "coming of age/out" story. This play is the third in a trilogy. In the initial design conversations with Robert O'Hara, the director, he allowed for lots of freedom in terms of color and texture. A couple of these pictures are from Marcus' "visions/dreams". The set was a "lighting playground" but also turned out rather large in terms of square footage and was a bit of a challenge keeping the acting versus water spaces clean. The inventory at City Theatre is serviceable but I was going to be pushing the boundaries. The budgets are always tight in regional theater. Fortunately I was able to achieve most of want i wanted.
